Hill of the Castle - the map didn't explain the name, and neither did the walk! But a nice days walk and leaves Alfie with only 2 to do. Had planned to do at the hill with trip in to Càrn Bàn, but a spare day made both an easier walk. After picking Alfie up and an overnight at the Garve PC, parked up at Black Bridge. Walk up Strath Vaich, initially on tarmac and then a good track. Planned on a loop as no bike allowed (Alfie's top Corbett rule). Had to negotiate some coos & calfs. Polarity of emotions - mine trepidation, Alfie's the usual excitement. Tiptoed past uneventfully and on by the weir and a little swim. Lots of new tree planting has been done, should be a lovely area once mature. Up into the hills at Lubachlaggan and nice views along the waterfalls. Onto rather flat boring top with occasional blustery hard snow showers - but mostly sunny. Summit with nice views around and then over to Meall a' Ghrianain. Down to track to join route in. Had a couple of days in hand so headed to Badrallach as never been before. Very quiet and peaceful!
