Day 5. Started out full of optimism just after 7am in the bright moonlight . Windy but clear and beautiful sunrise, even the turbines looked great.Track in was great but as soon as we were in the snow it became tough. Baby's hill indeed... At least knee deep for me, chin for Alfie. Met a few hares on the way but no one else about. Funny.. Made it to the Scurran of Well and had a slight 'Everest moment'. Only about 150m to go, but was so hard. Wind round the Scurran whipped up the ice for fantastic pictures - but it felt like a sandblasting. Decided it was enough and headed down what I felt would be a quicker way. It wasn't - difficult steep burn crossing in deep snow. Luckily I stuck my stick in before committing - had no bottom! 6 hrs to walk 10k... met a skier at the bottom - wish I had been. Time to head home, unfortunately to a flooded house. Mixed emotions....
